Black Angel is an adventure-psychological novel set in the early 1920s in Volyn, where the “red power” is taking root yet resistance continues. The story centers on agronomist Artem Hayduchenko, who establishes a commune on a dilapidated noble estate. Obsessed with finding chemical formulas to restore the land’s fertility and produce energy, he pursues a dream that many see as utopian. His younger brother Petro remains a staunch fighter for the Ukrainian cause, and their eventual meeting becomes a pivotal, fateful moment for the commune.
The novel weaves scientific ambition, ideological conflict, and familial tension into a richly atmospheric narrative. It portrays how individual dreams, political pressures, and brotherhood intersect in a time when the future of Ukraine is being decided. Black Angel combines mystery, philosophical reflection, moral ambiguity, and historical trauma in one compelling tale.
