Marcus Pocus 1. Magia a domicilio is the first book in the “Marcus Pocus” series by award-winning Spanish children’s author Pedro Mañas, illustrated by David Sierra Listón and published by Destino Infantil & Juvenil. The story is aimed at independent readers from about 6 to 9 years old and has 128 pages in paperback.

The book takes place in Suncity, a modern city that seems to have no room left for magic. At least, that is what Marcus Pocus believes. Marcus is a mischievous apprentice wizard and a member of the Club de la Luna Llena, a group that loves everything mysterious and supernatural. One day, while wandering through the city, he discovers a hidden shop at the end of a narrow alley. Behind its door, Marcus finds proof that magic not only exists, it can even be delivered to your home.

From that moment, Marcus’s everyday life turns upside down. Strange packages, surprising spells and unexpected creatures start to appear where nobody expects them. The story mixes school life, friendship and family with magical chaos, humour and fast-paced scenes that keep young readers engaged.

This edition combines dynamic black-and-white illustrations with short chapters and accessible language, making it ideal for children who are starting to enjoy longer books on their own. The themes of curiosity, courage, imagination and responsibility are present throughout the adventure, offering opportunities for conversation at home or in the classroom.

Marcus Pocus 1. Magia a domicilio is a good choice for families and educators looking for a modern fantasy series in Spanish that encourages reading, entertains with jokes and visual gags, and opens the door to more books in the saga “Marcus Pocus”.
