Language is not merely a collection of words stored in dictionaries or an arbitrary set of meanings. It is a way of thinking and reflecting reality—a canvas of the world painted by our distant ancestors and continuously refined by future generations. We actively participate in its creation, constantly adding to and enhancing its background and narrative. Our linguistic picture demonstrates how we perceive the world. And we see it in Ukrainian.
The book "See in Ukrainian" is dedicated to the most fundamental unit of language—the word. It enables us to communicate (and argue), convey important (and trivial) information, express feelings (and even contemplate them). Essentially, everything began with the word. What is "everything"? At the very least, this book; at most, human consciousness. And this is no joke, because there are no jokes in books about language.
