Superlatido invites young readers into the world of Javi, a boy from a small and welcoming village who moves to the big city of Gentrípolis with the dream of becoming a superhero. Though he enrols in the “Escuela Superior de Actos Increíbles” (Higher School of Incredible Acts), no spectacular super-powers seem to appear. Until Javi, with help from his neighbour Josefina and his own lived experiences, realises that empathy, listening and tenderness can become extraordinary powers. He stitches his own cape and becomes Superlatido — a hero whose special ability is to care, to listen and to hug.
This 36-page hardcover album (28.5 × 22.0 cm) from Carambuco Ediciones (Spain, 2025) blends the superhero genre with emotional education: instead of flights or laser beams, the real triumph is in the embrace, in the connection, in the heartfelt gesture. The vibrant, friendly illustrations and the gentle yet meaningful narrative make it an excellent choice for children’s reading time, parent-child bonding or classroom discussions about emotions, diversity and kindness.
Whether read aloud or explored independently, Superlatido helps children recognise that caring for others and being emotionally present isn’t a “lesser” power: it is a real and transformative one. Perfect for children from around 5 years old upwards, or for any age when exploring feelings and relationships. Bright, meaningful and uplifting, this book offers a fresh take on what it means to be “super”.
