Ukrainian-language edition. Me, Pashtet and the Army (Ukrainian title, transliterated: Ya, Pashtiet i Armiia) is a humorous prose book by Kuzma Skriabin, the singer and leader of the band Skriabin (real name Andriy Kuzmenko). It was published by Folio and was his last book; he died in February 2015.
The story follows his army friend Pashtet (Serhiy Pavlov), a candidate of biological sciences who ends up in the army because of trouble with the dean at his university. The narration is full of barracks routine, military slang and the kind of humour that raises anyone's mood.
It is a book for readers who know Skriabin's songs and want to hear his voice in prose, and for anyone who enjoys frank, funny storytelling about everyday life in the army. A note for the reader: the language is colloquial and sometimes rough, true to its setting. The paperback is compact and 224 pages long, easy to take along on a trip.
